Evri growth boosted by second-hand marketplaces
The UK’s leading parcel delivery company, Evri, which recently completed its merger with DHL eCommerce UK, has announced record half-year results with a 12 percent increase in parcel volumes and a strong rise in profit, boosted by “buoyant online marketplace trading”.
For the 26 weeks to August 30, Evri delivered 425 million parcels, up by 47 million in the same period last year, while profits (adjusted EBITDA) rose 22 percent to 209 million pounds.
The parcel company also added that revenue increased by 12 percent to 973 million pounds over the period, partly driven by marketplaces and pre-loved sites, which Evri states have become a “super retail channel” for the company, driven by consumer demand for second-hand bargains and an appetite for households to cash in on unwanted items.
Evri also highlighted significant new business from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with volumes up 56 percent, as well as retaining several of its largest clients.
Martijn De Lange, chief executive of Evri, said in a statement: “These financial results reflect the strength of our strategy and the dedication of our colleagues and couriers. We’re delivering more parcels than ever, expanding our client base, and improving profitability – all while continuing to invest in the future of delivery.
“The merger with DHL eCommerce UK marks a major milestone, enabling us to offer even greater reach. Evri’s performance sets a strong foundation for the second half of the year as it prepares for the key peak trading period. We have recruited 9,000 extra couriers and are investing over 30 million pound to boost our operations and service.”
The results come after Evri completed its merger with DHL eCommerce UK in October, and next year, DHL eCommerce UK will be rebranded to Evri Premium, serving as a separate network of DHL offering fast, time-sensitive deliveries with enhanced shipping security protection for high-value and large items.
