The Prada Group has partnered with Italian tree planting organisation Forestami to establish the Forestami Academy, a three-year training programme focused on urban forestry.

Available to all citizens, the initiative looks to promote and encourage urban forestry principles and values, in a programme coordinated by Maria Chiara Pastore, researcher at the Politecnico University in Milan.

The academy will include two initial classroom meetings at Triennale Milano, a learning module, and outdoor lessons dedicated to field experimentation.

By the end of the programme, which also covers workshops and seminars, participants will aim to acquire “soft skills on urban forestry”, a press release read, while also gaining knowledge on suitable spaces for “green transformation” and which types of trees are best suited to the cities.

Speaking on the project, Lorenzo Bertelli, Prada Group’s head of corporate social responsibility, said: “Urban reforestation is at the centre of international debate and is particularly relevant for Milan, a city that wants and has to offer more and more greenery.

“In addition to supporting the Forestami project as a whole, the Prada Group has decided to launch the Forestami Academy, a series of workshops dedicated to all citizens offering educational opportunities on these topics.

“As a group, we have always valued education and promoting culture and we are sure that the deep knowledge of the Italian and international speakers will be a great source of inspiration for attending audiences.”
