US-based resale marketplace Poshmark has named Heather Friedland as its first chief product officer. In this newly created role, Friedland has been tasked with overseeing the company’s product strategy, roadmap and execution as it looks towards its next phase of growth.
Friedland joins the company from Ancestry, where she also served as chief product officer. Prior to that, she had held similar roles at Glassdoor and Ebay, both of which she led product innovation and management, the latter as vice president of product.
In a statement, Namsun Kim, Poshmark’s chief executive officer, said Friedland was selected for her customer-first mindset, understanding of marketplace dynamics and deep product expertise.
Kim added: “We're entering an exciting new chapter as AI redefines how people shop, sell, and connect. With Heather's leadership, we'll accelerate innovation across our platform, expand the value we deliver to our shoppers and sellers, and position Poshmark at the forefront of fashion resale and the next generation of AI-powered commerce."
In her own statement, Friedland also underlined the impact of AI on the future of shopping, “making experiences more intuitive, personalised, and human”. She continued: “I see enormous opportunity for Poshmark to lead the way in redefining how people discover, connect, and find joy in shopping together."
