From Picasso to Frank Lloyd Wright: Jacquemus opens museum-like boutique in Miami
Independent house Jacquemus is expanding its retail network with the inauguration of a new boutique in the US, located in the Miami Design District, Florida. According to information provided by the brand to FashionUnited, the new space covers 270 square metres over two floors. It was once again designed by the brand's founder, Simon Porte Jacquemus, in collaboration with the architectural firm OMA.
The interior design reflects the company's Mediterranean aesthetic through the use of warm materials, abundant natural light and artisanal details like terracotta tiles and hand-applied stucco walls. A sculptural staircase in Saint-Marc Jaune stone, made by Marbrek and enclosed by a custom-made wrought iron balustrade by Battaglia, is the central element connecting the two levels.
Like its London and New York branches, the Miami store displays a selection of art and design pieces curated by the brand's founder. This artistic curation includes the dark bronze sculpture Le Coureur by artist Germaine Richier (1954); the bronze work Femme Couchée by sculptor Aristide Maillol (1900); and a painting by André Bauchant featuring an outdoor still life.
The furniture also contributes to this collector's interior atmosphere. Visitors can see a mahogany coffee table and bookcase by American designer Frank Lloyd Wright, as well as light fixtures and an ashtray by Jean Royère. White garden furniture from 1950, created by Mathieu Matégot, is also on display alongside two French oak orange tree planters. These are inspired by the models designed by André Le Nôtre for the Palace of Versailles, the venue for several Jacquemus shows.
The brand also notes the presence of other pieces by great names in modern art, such as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Jean Cocteau and photographer Martin Parr.
The artistic focus is a recurring feature of the brand's retail concept. It responds here to the uniqueness of the location. “In a city that shows a deep appreciation for art and design, the Miami boutique is an invitation to discover the multifaceted inspirations of Jacquemus, both contemporary and timeless,” the statement said.
By setting up in a district known as a temple of luxury, the Jacquemus boutique is located not far from Louis Vuitton. The Jacquemus brand is clearly displaying its high-end positioning. This opening reinforces its “elevation” strategy, which began several years ago.
The inauguration of this space represents a key milestone for the brand, founded in 2009, which today has a team of over 300 employees. Since opening its first permanent address on Avenue Montaigne in Paris in 2022, the company has been progressively rolling out its international distribution network.
At the beginning of the year, Simon Porte Jacquemus sold around 5 percent of his company to Sandbridge Capital. This is a Californian fund specialising in luxury, beauty and wellness, whose advisors include former French prime minister Dominique de Villepin. Sandbridge Capital's minority investment complements that of the L'Oréal group, announced in 2025. According to an interview given by Sarah Benady, CEO of Jacquemus, to Sandbridge Capital, the reason for the Californian fund's participation was motivated by “access to Sandbridge's expertise, rather than an urgent need for additional financing”.
