Galia Lahav: Brings bridal couture to North Carolina

Israeli couture bridal brand Galia Lahav has expanded its retail footprint in North America with a new opening in North Carolina, driven by the growing number of Southeastern brides from Charlotte, Raleigh, Charleston, Nashville and Atlanta wanting to wear the brand’s bold, glamorous take on bridalwear for their big day.

The new 2,200-square-foot flagship boutique, located in Mooresville, North Carolina, is backed by an investment of approximately 1 million US dollars and reinforces the brand’s continued expansion across the US, as it looks to bring an elevated in-person couture experience to where brides “call home”.

“Our North Carolina flagship is responding to demand,” explains Idan Lahav, chief executive of Galia Lahav, in an exclusive interview with FashionUnited. “The Charlotte / Lake Norman corridor, where Mooresville and Cornelius sit, is one of the fastest-growing financial hubs in the country, the second-largest US financial centre after New York, yet it has never had a true couture bridal flagship. Brides there have historically had to fly to New York or Miami for that experience.”

The Mooresville flagship expands Galia Lahav’s reach across the US, adding to its locations in Los Angeles, Miami and New York, with Lahav stating that each location was chosen “because committed demand already outpaced physical access,” and that its internal data at the bridal couture house shows a large and growing cluster of Southeastern brides, already booking appointments, trunk shows, and virtual consultations with Galia Lahav’s retail partners.

Situated on the shores of Lake Norman just outside Charlotte, Mooresville has emerged as one of the fastest-growing luxury markets in the Southeast, drawing an affluent, design-conscious clientele that has, until now, had to travel to New York and Los Angeles to find their dream wedding dress. Galia Lahav is looking to close that gap and give brides throughout the Carolinas and the broader Southeast direct access to its full couture collections and made-to-measure services.

Lahav adds: “We have been consistent with how we’ve expanded, and Mooresville says something about where luxury bridal is heading: the next wave of growth isn't only coastal, and it isn't only the largest cities. It's wherever the bride already is.

“Every bride deserves the full Galia Lahav experience: The fit, the fabric, the feeling of walking into a room built entirely around her moment, no matter where in the world she lives. This flagship is another step toward making that experience truly global, and North Carolina was a natural place to plant that flag.”

Galia Lahav continues US expansion in Mooresville, North Carolina

The new boutique has been designed to reflect the refined aesthetic found in Galia Lahav's flagship locations around the world, with private fitting suites, a VIP fitting room, a dedicated styling lounge, and curated access to the brand's most sought-after collections, including its couture, ready-to-wear, and evening lines.

Everything from the lighting to the layout has been “built to give each bride an unhurried, luxury and personalised appointment” from first fitting to final gown, while highlighting the craftsmanship of Galia Lahav’s couture gowns, where prices start at 7,000 US dollars.

At the core of the design is the need to offer its brides privacy with fully private, appointment-only suites, “because a bride shouldn't be trying on a five-figure gown in a shared space with strangers,” adds Lahav. While also ensuring that there is enough room for the whole entourage that comes with a wedding, from the mother-of-the-bride to bridesmaids, friends and family, to make the experience a “shared event” and ensure it is a relaxed appointment to cater for multiple looks that the brand has seen Southeast brides lean towards.

US remains a strategic priority for Galia Lahav

The Mooresville flagship is part of a broader retail expansion strategy for Galia Lahav, with the Tel Avia-based brand stating that North America is one of its “most important markets globally,” and it is already scouting another location in California to add to its longest-running flagship market in Los Angeles, which opened a decade ago and gave the brand an established presence outside of Israel to build deep brand infrastructure and reach.

Since then, the brand has added a flagship in Miami in 2020, located in the Design District, followed by SoHo, New York in 2022. The couture bridal brand also has a network of roughly 10 authorised retail partners across North America. With its flagships and wholesale network working closely together, the footprint has driven more than 200 percent revenue growth across the region over the past three years.

“North America is an exceptionally strong market for us and our priority region for physical growth over the next few years,” explains Lahav. “Alongside plans for another location in California, we're seeing real strength in Texas and in Chicago. We're watching the growth in those markets closely and are already in conversation with our retail partners there about future possibilities.

“It’s a disciplined, data-first expansion into high-affluence markets that are currently underserved, rather than only chasing the biggest metro names.”

Galia Lahav: Looking beyond bridal

As well as plans for additional locations, Galia Lahav is also looking to deepen what its flagships can do per square foot, from longer appointment experiences to becoming styling lounges that flex between bridal and its eveningwear and ready-to-wear offerings, moving the brand beyond the wedding day.

“The lounges aren't idle between bridal appointments; they double as private eveningwear and RTW styling sessions, stylist red-carpet pulls, and press previews,” adds Lahav. “Our bridal footfall is a built-in customer base for eveningwear, mothers of the bride and bridesmaids and after the wedding, our brides themselves are natural RTW and eveningwear customers, and the lounge lets us cross-sell inside the same visit rather than needing a separate appointment or location.”

The flagship model the brand is adopting also means that as it scales its RTW and eveningwear, it will not need additional real estate for a second product line, “same footprint, different appointment type,” adds Lahav.

Galia Lahav has also tentatively made its beauty debut this year with a co-branded unisex fragrance, called Citrine Veil, with niche perfumer A.N. Other, with bergamot, mandarin and Italian lemon over orris, jasmine and cedarwood, settling into sandalwood, musk and warm skin accord. The scent isn’t just for brides to buy on their wedding day; the brand is actively using the scent to add a sensorial experience to its flagship, so the space feels like an extension of the gown.

Lahav explained: “The idea came from noticing what was missing after the dress. Our creative team described wanting an “invisible gown,” a way for the Galia Lahav experience to continue after the bride leaves the atelier. Fragrance was the natural next category, since scent and memory are so closely tied to a wedding day.

“There's still plenty of room for the brand to grow, and we're actively investing in and growing the team behind these categories. At the same time, we're careful: every new extension has to feel like a natural expression of the brand's vision, not a stretch for its own sake.”

Looking ahead to the challenges facing Galia Lahav and the wedding industry as a whole amid ongoing global volatility, Lahav said: “Wealth is moving, not disappearing; luxury spend is shifting geographically rather than shrinking, which is exactly why a flexible flagship-plus-wholesale model matters: we're not overexposed in any single region or client base.

“Couture production timelines (three to six months, hand embroidery, ateliers) make us sensitive to supply chain and tariff volatility on internationally sourced fabrics and embellishments. While currency swings matter more to us than to a domestic-only brand, since a meaningful share of our clients travel internationally to buy, exchange rates influence where they choose to shop.”

Galia Lahav has also noted that engagement and wedding timelines have “stretched,” with couples getting engaged and marrying later, meaning that planning windows are lengthening amid economic caution, “which changes our production and cash flow planning even though underlying demand for weddings hasn't dropped,” adds Lahav.

“Our answer to all of it has been the same instinct that led us to Mooresville: use our own data rather than headlines to decide where and how fast to grow,” concludes Lahav.
