Chemena Kamali's first collection for French fashion house Chloé was one of this season's most eagerly awaited debuts. The designer is a veteran at the brand, having initially worked there for quite some time under former creative director Phoebe Philo.
The Chloé brand is known for the freedom it gives women through its designs. Not only did founder Gaby Aghion have this intention, this vision was also embraced by Philo who brought Chloé's popularity to an all-time high. Kamali now focuses on the heritage of the French brand.
The debut collection is full of flowing items, contrasts between masculine and feminine through, for example, leather and lace combined with ruffles. A striking detail were the Chloe belts, reminiscent of a name necklace but magnified many times over. "I want to return to the original roots of the house and build a sensual Chloé that exudes warmth and positivity," Kamali said of the show.
