Accademia del Lusso and the Afro Fashion Association are continuing their partnership. Last spring, Accademia del Lusso launched a scholarship competition in collaboration with the Afro Fashion Association. Epie Gladys Ngoh from Laba Douala took home the first prize. She began the master program in sustainable fashion design at Milan’s Accademia del Lusso in October 2023.

Last November, a delegation from Accademia del Lusso visited the Douala Free Academy of Fine Arts (LABA) in Cameroon, along with Michelle Francine Ngonmo, the founder of the Afro Fashion Association for a project on denim upcycling that combines Italian fashion heritage with Cameroonian creativity.

The project will culminate with the presentation of the capsule collection ‘From Trash to Flash’ on February 21, during Milan Fashion Week FW24.

During MFW, following the exhibition at the Boncompagni Ludovisi Museum in Rome, a part of the ‘Fifties in Fashion, 1950s Couture’ exhibition will move to the premises of the higher education institution located on Milan’s via Montenapoleone and will be open to the public from February 20 to February 29.
