Italian brand Stone Island, part of the Moncler Group, has released 'Traction Control', the fifth chapter of its 'Navigation Series' campaign by photographer and filmmaker Liam MacRae. The new instalment is set in the world of motorsport.

Launched in April 2023, the series takes its cue from the compass rose on the Stone Island badge, which has featured since the brand's first collection in 1982. Each chapter is a diptych: one image shows a journey in action, while the other reinterprets the Stone Island compass within that setting.

Previous chapters were 'Search + Rescue' in April 2023; 'Shedding Light' in September 2023; 'Reinvent the Wheel' in April 2024; and 'Under the Radar' in August 2025.

Compass on the circuit

For 'Traction Control', MacRae photographed a rider performing a burnout on a racetrack, with the tyre marks left on the tarmac forming the Stone Island compass. The second image is a close-up portrait of the rider wearing a helmet wrapped in the compass emblem.

The campaign also extends beyond the images themselves. Large-scale billboards showing the diptych have been installed at several locations across the Monza circuit in Italy, placing the work within a venue known for speed, engineering and performance.

The release forms part of Stone Island's fall/winter 2026 season.
